The most audacious (and treasonous) response to oppression in American History!  June, 1776. 56 men met in cramped quarters in hot, muggy, Philadelphia, with windows nailed shut to spies. They argued about taxation, slavery, big states vs. small states. But the unifying mission became clear. A new nation. A democracy, independent from English tyranny. Risking their lives, their families, their homes, they signed a document declaring to all the world that a new nation had been founded, and  sparked a fire that lit the world.
